Creating content attracts and keeps customers

By attracting and keeping customers through content, your blog can help you score higher on the search engines. At the moment, I'm beginning a campaign to tell all my clients that they should create blogs where they keep customers up-to-date on their businesses.

While this approach is especially good for travel agents or vacation rental people, it can work for anyone. Caterers and restaurants could post new recipes and menu specials. Musicians could post new lyrics or art. Baby products makers can keep clients up to date on new products or research. Perfume makers can inform people of new fragrances. Mortgage brokers can post rates and special loan deals.

In short, anyone can blog. That's the whole point. But blogs, while often thought of as a personal, or polticial endeavor, can be a big help to business. Besides the search engine optimization benefits of linking to your site from a site that is well ranked already (as is the case with bloglines, or many others), blogging offers content, which search engines, and customers, love.
